Welcome to the Outer Banks, or OBX as the locals call it! This string of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. From the site of the Wright Brothers' first flight to the picturesque lighthouses dotting the coastline, OBX is a quirky paradise for any adventurous soul.
And the good news, obviously, is Happy Tees® has you covered, so you can complete the set with more mix and match tops for you and the one you love.
So, What's the Deal with OBX?
Just picture this. Miles of pristine beaches, charming seaside villages, and a laid-back vibe that will make you want to kick off your shoes and never leave. OBX is not your average tourist destination.
Cape Hatteras features an amazing seashore where you can ride horses, try a stand up paddleboarding, or walk and run in the sand.
There are at least seven golf courses nearby where you can play a round with views of the Atlantic or a beautiful forest from the fairway.
Charter a boat to reel in today's big catch and go on an unforgettable fishing adventure.
Or set sail on ships such as the Elizabeth II.
Remember the lost colony? Yeah that's here too, Roanoke Island.
It's a place where you can truly unwind and let your hair down (or, in this case, let the sea breeze tousle your hair).

Lighting the Way
Don't miss the chance to visit the iconic lighthouses that stand tall along the OBX coastline.
Some of the best "high lights" (see what we did there?) are Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse.
These historic beacons have guided sailors for centuries and now serve as picturesque landmarks for visitors to admire. Climb to the top for breathtaking views that will leave you in awe (and maybe a little out of breath).

High-Flying Fun
History buffs, get ready to geek out at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kitty Hawk. This is where Orville and Wilbur Wright took to the skies in the first powered airplane flight on December 17, 1903.
Explore ranger-led programs to fully experience history and the Wright Brothers story. There's even a Junior Flight Ranger program for your kids! Check out the visitor center and museum, where you can browse the Eastern National Bookstore. And surrounding the large stone commemorative monument to the Wright Brothers, you'll find sculptures, boulders, and reconstructed 1903 camp buildings.
Channel your inner aviator as you explore the museum and imagine what it must have been like to soar through the air for the very first time.

Surf's Up, Dude!
Surfing enthusiasts, rejoice! OBX is a mecca for wave riders of all levels. Admittedly there are plenty of activities you can choose from on the water, such as kiteboarding, windsurfing, sailing, diving, kayaking, canoeing, and more!
But for surfing, Cape Hatteras has big swells (from multiple directions!) and huge waves. You won't find anything better in the Atlantic Ocean or along the US East Coast. And don't forget the surfing is just as good in public access locations such as Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills.
Each year OBX attracts hundreds (thousands?) of people to surfing competitions. Bring the family and enjoy amateur surfing from events such as the ESA Eastern Surfing Championships at Jeanette's Pier in Nags Head, and the Down the Road Surf & Art Festival in Kitty Hawk.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newbie looking to catch your first wave, the Outer Banks offers some of the best surfing spots on the East Coast. Hang ten, dude!
Wrap Up Your OBX Adventure
As you remember your visit to the Outer Banks, take a piece of its quirky charm with you. Whether it's a seashell from the beach, a photo of a majestic lighthouse, or memories of catching the perfect wave, OBX will always hold a special place in your heart. And we've tried to make it easy on your heart with our mix and match (gold, silver) selection of OBX t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and tank tops. Plus we offer OBX coasters you can place in your vehicle (or coffee table), as a stand-alone purchase or through a special bundle purchase.
Until next time, keep the OBX spirit alive!
